私達が今回頼んだのは１１ドルのランチ・プレート。いくつかの選択肢の中から好みのサラダ、スープ、サンドイッチを選ぶことができます。私はモッツアレラ・チーズとチキンのサンドイッチ、パンチェッタのスープ、ブルーチーズ・ドレッシングのアイスバーグ・ウェッジ・サラダを選びました。お皿が運ばれて来た時には、ひとつひとつが可愛らしい程小さかったので、足りるだろうかと思ったのですが、食べてみると意外にも食べきれない程のボリュームです。量だけでなくまた質も申し分無く、サラダもスープも家では出せない絶妙なバランスのお味でした。更に添えられて来たパンもおいしかったのですが、それにも増してバターが本当においしかった。ふわりとした軽い口当たりで、風味が高く、エシレのバターに少し似ています。料理、雰囲気に加えて、給仕の方もとても感じが良く、細かなところまでテーブルに気を配って下さいます。こんなにきちんとした料理を素敵な雰囲気の中でゆったり食べて１１ドルなんて良いのだろうかと思う程に満足度の高い食事でした。そして女子が集まれば忘れてはならないのが、デザート。お食事に加え、私達はカサダ・ケーキとトリプル・レイヤー・チョコレート・ムースを頼みました。カサダ・ケーキは日本のイチゴ・ショート・ケーキのような生クリームとスポンジケーキを使った優しい味わい。チョコレート・ムースは三種類のチョコレートの個性を生かした濃厚な味でした。一緒にコーヒーも頂いて、お会計はチップを入れて一人２２〜３ドル。ランチとしては少々贅沢ですが、クリーブランドで一番良いお食事を頂いたので、大満足です。クリーブランドのレストランといえば、味は折り紙付き、雰囲気は家庭的というのが常でしたが、東京のレストランと比べても引けを取らない程良いレストランをクリーブランドで見つけました。今度は是非ディナーを食べてみたい思います。

I finally had a chance to visit Giovanni's for lunch with some friends the other day. Giovanni's is a fine Italian restaurant, but the location is rather odd. It is located on the lower level of an office building, and almost hidden behind the offices. When you open the heavy entrance door of Giovanni's, you will know this is the right place. The door interior was throughly made of beautiful wood. With crisp white table cloths were spread on each table. Their customers were dressed up even for lunch. We actually did not expect this restaurant to be this fancy, so we were dressed a little too casual for the atmosphere, but the waiter treated us very well.
I ordered a fixed mini course called "Pranzo A Preszzo Fisso" for $11. The course allow you to choose one each of a salad, a sandwich, and a soup. I selected the mozzarella & chicken sandwich, soup with pancetta, and iceberg wedge with blue cheese dressing. When the plate arrived at our table, I actually thought the portion was too small, but it was more than enough. Soup and salad were perfectly seasoned to be tasted, and those came with bread accompanied with fantastic butter of fine quality. The flavor of the butter reminded me of that of Echire, an artisan butter brand from France. In addition to the mini course, we had casada cake, three layered chocolate mousse, and coffee. The casada cake was like a Japanese style strawberry short cake, and the chocolate mousse was very rich in the chocolate flavor. We really enjoyed the lunch at Giovanni's. Their food was excellent and their service was wonderful too. I paid 22 or 23 dollars including a tip and tax. It was not exactly cheap for lunch, but it was my best dining experience in Cleveland, so it was well worth it. I definitely want to come back to Giovanni's for dinner.
