I talked about Aussie Coffee in my last post. I would like to introduce you to my favorite coffee spots in the Brisbane area this time.
I love coffee and used to take a train to go to my favorite coffee house when I was in Japan. However, that is not the case in Australia. We don’t travel that far to grab a cup of coffee. Everyone has a favorite coffee place in their own neigbourhood and usually goes back there. Having coffee at my favorite cafe gives me a great sense of community. A pleasant chat with familiar faces gives me a little push to keep myself going when I am down. Here is a list of cafes that I love in Brisbane.
Bean on Dean (Toowong)

They probably have one of the best coffees in Brisbane. I always order Flat White when I come here. The flavor of coffee is so rich even when I order a decaf with skim milk. The same barista normally makes all of their coffee. (He rarely talks but smiles occasionally.) So the quality of coffee is consistent. It’s right in front of Anzac Park and packed with neighbours and cyclists in the morning.
Veneziano Coffee Roasters (West End)

This is my pick in West End where we find a cafe on literally every street corner. Cheeky Bean Espresso Bar (http://www.cheekybean.com.au) also has good coffee, but I keep going back to Veneziano because I love the coffee, the service, and the vibe. They roast their coffee on site, and you can watch it from the second floor of the cafe.
Lovewell (Mt Gravatt Lookout)

This is where I go when I want to relax on a weekend. The biggest treat here is a fantastic view of the city. The staff members are friendly, and the place is cosy. It’s owned by a non-profit organization to support women, and you can contribute to it by enjoying a great cup of coffee.
Foundry Artisan Coffee (Indooroopilly)

This is the place to go whenever I am in the mood for good coffee while shopping at the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre. I was planning to try out all the coffee shops at the Centre to find out the best coffee there, but my journey ended unexpectedly when I came to Foundry Artisan Coffee. I like it because of the coffee and the ambience. In addition, their baked things are pretty good. I normally don’t eat sweets but had their friand and loved it. They have free sparkling water for their customers, which is definitely a plus. If you get a member’s card, every fifth coffee is on house, which I find quite generous.
7-Eleven (multiple locations)
Definitely the best-value-coffee for money in Australia. A freshly made coffee is just a dollar. It may not be the best of the best, but it actually is descent coffee. I always order Cappuccino although I normally order Flat White at cafes. I recently found that Coles Express also had a dollar coffee, but I stick to 7-Eleven because I like their coffee better, and they give us good rewards if we install their app on our phone.
この間は、オーストラリアのコーヒーについてお話ししましたが、今回は私のお気に入りのカフェをご紹介したいと思います。東京に住んでいた頃は、電車に乗ってお気に入りのコーヒー屋さんに出向いたものですが、こちらではカフェの位置付けは少し違います。お気に入りの八百屋さんや豆腐屋さんのようなものでしょうか。わざわざ遠くに行くことは余りありません。基本的には近所のお店にふらりと立ち寄ることが多いような気がします。顔見知りのお店の人と世間話をしながら、美味しいコーヒーを飲むと元気が出てきて、落ち込んでいても、今日も一日頑張ろう！という気持ちになります。素敵なカフェは星の数程あると思いますが、今回は私のお気に入りのカフェをご紹介したいと思います。

アンザック公園にほど近い、小さなお店。店主の方が黙々と美味しいコーヒーを淹れてくれます。店内は近所の方や自転車乗りの方でいつも一杯です。普通のお店でデカフ、且つスキムミルクでコーヒーを頼むと、何の味もしないものですが、ここのコーヒーはそれでも美味しい！コーヒーの味と香りに奥行きがあり、重めの泡が特徴です。
Veneziano Coffee Roasters (West End)

カフェ激戦区のウェスト・エンドにあるお店。ウェスト・エンドでは Cheeky Bean Espresso Bar (http://www.cheekybean.com.au) のコーヒーも美味しいのですが、個人的には店内が広く、ゆったりコーヒーを飲むことが出来るベネチアーノの方が好きです。自前で焙煎を行なっており、二階席からはその様子を見ることができます。

コーヒーのお味もなかなかですが、ここのカフェの一番のご馳走は眺め！気持ちが良く、ゆったりと朝を過ごしたい時に来るお店。非営利団体が経営しており、自分の使ったお金が少し人の役に立つところも気に入っています。

インドロピリーに引っ越してまず思ったこと。カフェが無い！という訳で、ショッピングセンターにあるカフェを片っ端から試そうと意気込んでいたのですが、早速お気に入りを見つけてしまいました。コーヒーが濃厚で美味しいことはもちろん、店内には自然光が入って気持ちが良く、店員さんも親切です。焼き菓子（アーモンドが入ったFriandも自然なお味で美味しかった。）水はセルフサービスで備え付けのサーバーから汲むのですが、スパークリーングウォーターが無料なのも嬉しい。しかも、お店のカードでポイントを集めると、五杯目は無料です。
7-Eleven (many locations)
物価の高いオーストラリアでお金が無い時にコーヒーを飲みたい時は迷わずここ。淹れたてのコーヒーがなんと１ドル！セルフサービスなので、自分でコーヒーを淹れて、レジでお金を支払います。コストパフォーマンスの良さでは断トツです。普段はフラット・ホワイトを飲むことが多いのですが、セブンイレブンのコーヒーの中ではカプチーノがお気に入りです。最近、コールズ・エクスプレスでも1ドルでコーヒーを飲めることを発見したのですが、セブンイレブンのコーヒーの方が少し美味しい気がします。
Aller boire un café, c’est une activité très importante dans notre vie en Australie. C’est beaucoup plus que juste boire une petite boisson. C’est plutôt pour faire partie de la communauté voisine. Quand je n’ai pas d’énergie, je vais à l’un de mes cafés préférés et dit bonjour aux visages que je connais très bien. On bavarde un petit peu des choses quotidiennes, et ça me donne beaucoup de bonne énergie et ça m’aide à continuer ma vie quand j’ai des difficultés. Normalement, on va à nos cafés préférés dans notre propre quartier et on ne voyage pas trop pour un petit café. C’est un peu comme aller acheter une baguette en France. Voici la liste des mes cafés préférés à Brisbane. J’espère que ça vous aidera à passer un petit bon moment.

Je crois qu’ils offrent le meilleur café Australien. J’adore leur Flat White. La mousse de lait est dense comme la texture de meringue bien formée et le gout du café est prononce mais pas amer du tout. Vous trouverez peut-être une longue file d’attente des voisins qui attendent leurs cafés préparés pour eux tout près du Parc Anzac.

C’est mon café préféré à West End où vous pouvez littéralement trouver un café à chaque coin. J’adore l’ambiance de ce lieu. Ils torréfient les grains de café eux-même. Le site est juste à côté et vous pouvez regarder le travail des torréfacteurs du deuxième étage du café.

J’y vais quand je veux me relaxer le week-end. J’adore la vue. Vous pouvez regarder la cité de Brisbane entièrement. C’est un peu comme le belvédère au Mt Coot-tha, mais c’est plus tranquille et j’en ai besoin de temps en temps. Une association à but non lucratif dirige ce café. Donc, je peux donner un peu à qui a besoin d’aide quand je bois un petit café là et ça ne me derange pas.

J’ai déménagé à Indooroopilly récemment et j’étais un peut choquée de n’avoir trouvé presque rien du tout sauf les magasins dans le centre commercial. Je ne préfère pas le centre commercial, mais si j’y suis et si je veux un café, je vais toujours à Foundry Artisan Coffee parce que je peux boire un bon café dans la lumière naturelle et ça me plait. L’eau gazeuse est gratuite pour leurs clients et j’aime beaucoup ce petit service.
7-Eleven (plusieurs emplacements)
C’est vraiment pas un café techniquement, mais j’y vais souvent quand je n’ai pas d’argent et que je veux un bon café. Une tasse de café coute seulement un dollar. C’est super bon marché parce que normalement ça coute cinq dollars à peu près. Le gout de café n’est pas mal du tout! C’est un excellent rapport qualité prix.
