アメリカの牛乳はちょっと薄いと以前から思っていたのですが、最近ではすっかり慣れてしまったところでした。が！思いがけなく日本の牛乳に非常に近い味の牛乳を見つけました。ソロンにあるマイルズ・ファーマーズ・マーケットは野菜も肉も上質な素晴らしいマーケットですが、おいしい牛乳もそこにありました。
以前からその牛乳も気になってはいたのですが、何しろパッケージは不透明の真黄色。とてもおいしそうには見えません。他のスーパーに行く時間が無かったので買ってみると、意外においしいではないですか。日本の牛乳のようにマイルドで、程良い牛乳の甘みが感じられます。それにアメリカの牛乳特有の妙に薄い感じがありません。
シェイカー・スクエアのファーマーズ・マーケットで牧場の人が売りに来ている牛乳を別にすれば、このSMITH'S D MILKが一番おいしかったです。牧場の牛乳は1/2 ガロンで3ドル50セントと少々高級ですが、マイルズ・ファーマーズ・マーケットの牛乳は同じ量で2ドルちょっととお手頃です。これから牛乳はいつもマイルズ・ファーマーズ・マーケットで買うことになりそうです。
ちなみにこの牛乳はオハイオ産なので、他の州で流通しているかどうかは不明です。他州にお住まいの皆様、あしからず。

For sometime now, I have been thinking that milk in the U.S. is thinner than milk in Japan. I sometimes miss the rich fresh milk that I could get in Japan. I unexpectedly found exactly this kind of milk I had been looking for at Miles Farmers Market in Solon, which deals with quality fresh vegetables and meat. I had noticed the milk, but I had not tried it by then because the package looked sort of odd. I actually had to buy it because I had no time to go to another supermarket, but it turned out to be a great discovery!
The milk tasted so silky and smooth, and it had a rich flavor. I guess the milk contains slightly more milk fat than common milk from chain supermarkets. This is the best milk I have ever tried in the United States besides the milk at the Shaker Square Farmers Market that is freshly delivered from a farm, . The milk at the Shaker Square Farmers Market is 3.5 dollars for a half gallon. I think it is a little expensive, but the milk at Miles Farmers Market is just 2 dollars and several cents for the same amount. This milk has such a nice flavor for a very reasonable price. I will be buying milk at Miles Farmers Market all the time from now on. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that the brand was SMITH'S D MILK. Their farm is located in Ohio, so I don't know if you can buy it in other states.
