食べ物が好きです。海外暮らしでは魚や日本の食材など手に入り難いものが多い一方、日本ではなかなか見つけられない食材が簡単に手に入ることも魅力です。今回は私が好きなマーケットをご紹介したいと思います。
J’adore la nourriture. Qui ne l’aime pas? Les marchés sont très importantes dans ma vie et il y en a quelques superbes à Brisbane. Je vous présente mes marchés préférés.
Harris Farm Markets (West End)
This is my paradise! It is like a combination of a luxury deli in NYC such as Zabar’s and a local farmers’ market. Their fruits and vegetables are fresh and cheap. They have a huge cheese selection from all over the world. I was particularly impressed by their French cheese collection, in particular. Their fish is the best in the city as far as I know. You can find unusual fresh seafood such as mackerel or octopus. They clean the fish if asked, which saves time. I am so happy that we finally have a market like this in town.
このマーケットは正に天国。私が夢に見たマーケットがなんとブリスベンにオープンしました。ニューヨーク屈指の高級デリZabar’s（http://www.zabars.com）と地元のファーマーズ・マーケットを組み合わせたようなお店で、生鮮食品は新鮮で手頃、チーズのセレクションと魚売り場はブリズベン随一で、干し鱈の塩漬けなどオーストラリアでは珍しい食材も取り扱っています。
C’est mon rêve réalisé et mon petit paradis. Je peux acheter tous ce que je veux comme les poissons frais, les fromages français rares, et les légumes locaux. Les prix ne sont pas mal du tout! C’est comme la combination d’un épicerie de luxe à NYC et un marché local. Merci à ce magasin, je peux enfin préparer un dîner avec des ingredients qui me satisfont.
The West End Markets (Saturday from 6 am - 2 pm, Davies Park, West End)
For the first time I came to this market, I wowed! There are all sorts of vendors of items including fresh local products, breads, crafts, and meals. The markets are always packed with people enjoying grocery shopping and brekkie right by Brisbane River. If you are lucky, you find musicians giving a live performance on the slope on the river side. Immersing ourselves in live music over a great cup of coffee under trees makes a wonderful start of a weekend.
初めてここに来た時にブリスベンにはなんて素晴らしいマーケットがあるのだろうと感激しました。生鮮食品はもちろん、洋服や小物、食事まであらゆるものが売っています。気持ちが良い川辺の公園で開催されており、コーヒーを片手にピクニックを楽しむ人達で毎週いっぱいです。
J’adore l’ambiance de ce marché. Il y a de la musique et les gents qui se détendent avec un café sous les arbres juste à côté de la rivière. Vous pouvez trouver de tout comme des légumes, des fruits, des poissons, des pains, des repas à emporter, et des vêtements.
Saturday Fresh Market at Brisbane Markets (Rocklea)

This is probably the biggest market in Brisbane and the place to go when you actually want to buy fresh local products at the lowest price. You could sometimes buy a kilo of tomatoes only for a dollar! There are little booths of crafts and eateries including my favorite bakery/pastry shop, Sprout, which I believe the best of the best bakeries anywhere in town.
ブリスベン最大にして最強のマーケット。魅力は値段！トマト１キロ当たりたった１ドルで買えることもあります。植物や小物にパンや軽食と幅広いものを扱っており、テーブルと椅子が場内にたくさん置いてあるので、そこで食事をすることもできます。私が大好きなパン屋さんSprout（パンもケーキも絶品！黄色い屋根のテントが目印です）もこのマーケットに出店しています。
C’est probablement le plus grand marché à Brisbane. Les produits sont locaux et les prix sont bon marché. Vous pourriez acheter un kilo des tomates pour un dollar! Il y a des produits variés comme des petits produits artisanaux, plantes, boulangeries/patisseries (Sprout, ma boulangerie préférée incluse), etc. Il y a également des tables et des chases et vous pouvez acheter ce que vous aimez et mangez là si vous voulez.
New Farm Deli
It’s a deli, not a market, but I can’t skip this little gem. This place is filled with all sorts of gourmet treats ranging from prosciutto from Italy to saffron from Iran. The products they offer are the very best, and they taste far better than those available at a big franchise supermarket although they look seemingly similar. They also have frozen meals such as pizzas, lasagnas, and soups to take home, and they are all tasty. There is a cafe on-site, and you can enjoy freshly prepared dishes at affordable prices. ここはデリで、生鮮食品などは取り扱っていないため、 正確にはマーケットとは言えませんが、ブリスベンで美味しいものを語る時にこのお店を外すことはできません。パルマの生ハムから、ブルゴーニュのチーズ、イランのサフランまで、高品質の食材を手にいれることができます。同じようなものでも、スーパーで買うものとは比べ物にならないくらい、美味しい！ピザやスープなどの惣菜類も充実しており、隣にあるカフェでは新鮮な食材を使った作り立ての料理を手頃な価格で楽しむことができます。
Ce n’est pas techniquement un marché. C’est une épicerie, mais si vous voulez acheter les produits Européens de meilleure qualité, on ne peut pas éviter ce petit magasin qui est plein des bonnes choses comme l’Époisses de Bourgogne et le Prosciutto de Parma. Les jambons sont moelleux et ils fondent dans la bouche! On peut acheter des repas préparés comme des pizzas, des lasagnas et des soupes. Ils sont délicieux! Il y a un café juste à côté et ils offrent plus des choix sur la place. Bon appétit!
